I surprised Miguel to a trip last month into San Francisco to eat Chilean empanadas. He was so surprised! I was pretty ecstatic that I was able to direct him to our location. We were both very thrilled that the empanadas turned out so incredibly well! By the time we were ready to eat them we were starving!
The place I found is called Chile Lindo (translated as beautiful Chile). They recently opened up this little hole-in-the-wall restaurant, perse. They currently ONLY make empanadas. Chilean style empanadas, or Empanadas de Pino contain ground beef, cumin, raisins, black olives, hard boiled eggs and onions.
Miguel was so excited to eat the empanadas!
I think I’m an empanada convert
The ginormous empanadas – they look so pretty!
Chile Lindo did offer a cheese and jalapeno as well as a vegan empanada. We’ll definitely have to go back next time to try those other options.
We also had to stop by our usual Salvadoran restaurant to pick up an order of pupusas to go. Being in the city and NOT stopping for a pupusas trip? Now THAT’S a sin :)
